Join us for a Saturday full of Science at Longway Planetarium! Plant grass seeds in terrariums to take home, play with water and pumps, and eat dirt! Take part in an activity and get $1 off admission to a planetarium show! No need to register, just drop in.
Build Your Own Ecosystem – Participants will plant grass seeds in terrariums to take home while learning about the needs of living things (food, water, air, shelter, habitat, and sunlight).
Groundwater – Participants will work together to build a groundwater model that includes a well and a pond. Pump water out of the well to see how it changes the water level. Add color to see how water flows from surface water sources into the groundwater system.
Clean Water Challenge – Participants will engineer a water treatment system to clean dirty water. Choose from a variety of materials to create a filter system that will make water look clean.
Snack Station – Eat Dirt! (Chocolate pudding cups with crushed Oreo cookies and gummi worms.)
