It was by many accounts considered to be one of the most exciting, and excruciating, scientific findings in the history of humankind. The idea of particle physics has since been flung into television mainstream, showing up in news headlines and shows like the Big Bang Theory. We will discuss what the fuss was all about and try to answer why, when, how, and what's next for the elusive particle.
